The Product Manager will need to be experienced in product line portfolio management including developing product line strategies. This role will be responsible for the long term profitable growth and life cycle management of assigned product lines. This position will lead business case development for product development by analyzing market potential, business need & potential profitability. Responsibilities include execution of strategic direction, leading all facets of the product lifecycle, product roadmap development and product strategies for assigned product categories. Profitable growth being the goal, the Product Manager must be fluent at developing quantifiable value propositions to grow the business and ensure outstanding customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Function as business leader, portfolio advocate and internal champion of assigned products through full lifecycle.
Conduct and analyze market research to understand market and customer requirements to drive product direction
Understand market trends, competitive positioning, customer needs and market opportunities
Develop global product strategies & roadmaps that align with business vision, customer needs and technology capabilities
Ensure that product strategies are cohesive, defining target customers, channels, market criteria and revenue potential to drive project prioritization.
Develop and deploy comprehensive market-driven pricing strategies based on value provided and competitive landscape.
Develop competitive assessments to identify opportunities to attack competitors and win market share
Manage and implement product line positioning improvement via cost optimization or product feature changes based on competitive intelligence and customer value.
Establish and maintain product forecast for salable products including leading monthly forecast meeting with operations, sales, and marketing
Manage cross-functional product development team including resources, budget and phase gate approvals according to established process for level 1 or 2 projects as required
Acts as voice of customer during development and establishes product requirements including performance, price, quality, ergonomics & aesthetics
Prepares Business plan for projects including: Market opportunity, value proposition, financial analysis, forecast, brand/channel strategies & competitive positioning
Product management support for on-site meetings/events with customers and/or distributors
Qualifications / Education / Experience
Experience in working with tools and methodologies specific to product line management
Experience in managing products involving both mechanical and electrical systems
Prefer experience in product life cycle management
Knowledge of ERP System Experience. Preferably Epicor.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business related discipline; Master's degree in business or marketing preferred
3-5 years of proven experience in product management or product development which includes some combination of forecasting and budgeting, product strategy determination, market research, pricing analysis and/or supplier development
Certification in Product Management a plus
This job operates in a professional office environment. This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Occasional overnight travel is expected for this position.
May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
