The Product Manager will need to be experienced in product line portfolio management including developing product line strategies. This role will be responsible for the long term profitable growth and life cycle management of assigned product lines. This position will lead business case development for product development by analyzing market potential, business need & potential profitability. Responsibilities include execution of strategic direction, leading all facets of the product lifecycle, product roadmap development and product strategies for assigned product categories. Profitable growth being the goal, the Product Manager must be fluent at developing quantifiable value propositions to grow the business and ensure outstanding customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Function as business leader, portfolio advocate and internal champion of assigned products through full lifecycle.
Strategize and then build trend relevant and competitively differentiated assortments and key items in accordance with the Tacony Sewing Merchandising Strategy
Understand market trends, competitive positioning, customer needs and market opportunities
Work directly with agents and suppliers - either electronically or in person - to identify and evaluate product ideas and determines which products and ideas are worth pursuing. This involves ensuring strategy, pricing, and quality objectives are being exceeded
Manage the product development timelines to ensure all key milestone dates are achieved
Develop and deploy comprehensive market-driven pricing strategies based on value provided and competitive landscape.
Develop competitive assessments to identify opportunities to win market share
Manage and implement product line positioning improvement via cost optimization or product feature changes based on competitive intelligence and customer value
Establish and maintain product forecast for salable products including leading monthly forecast meeting with operations, sales, and marketing
Acts as voice of customer during development and establishes product requirements including performance, price, quality, ergonomics & aesthetics
Prepares Business plan for projects including: Market opportunity, value proposition, financial analysis, forecast, brand/channel strategies & competitive positioning
Leverages product ratings and reviews for product insight and ideas for marketing
Keeps abreast of market trends, consumer trends, competition, customer service issues, and eCommerce technology and dynamics
Qualifications / Education / Experience
Experience in working with tools and methodologies specific to product line management
Experience in managing products involving sewing, crafts or softlines
Prefer experience in product life cycle management
Possess the desire, ability and knowledge to ensure that our merchandising initiatives are the most current, help identify merchandising needs and/or development opportunities to align with our overall ecommerce strategies
Understanding of Internet as a commerce channel, trends, and user behaviors
Excellent communication, organization, time management and analytical/problem solving skills are required, along with a high degree of flexibility
Strong analytical and technical skills
Power user of website analytics, content management and on-site search tools
Knowledge of ERP System Experience. Preferably Epicor.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, Brand Management, or Fashion Merchandising
3-5 years of proven experience in Merchandising, Brand Management, or Sourcing
Certification in Product Management a plus
