Quality Assurance Technician

Job purpose

The purpose of the position is to inspect units or parts for various quality defects. This can include cosmetic, form, fit and function of components or completed units. Along with the defect identification, the QT will conduct root cause investigations and corrective action implementations to ensure that defects are reduced or eliminated.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Report to the Quality Manager to support daily quality inspections.
  • Report defect data through various reporting tools like pareto charts, x-bar and r and similar tools
    • Lead quality initiatives and meetings to disseminate quality data to stakeholders
  • Identify root cause of issues and suggest corrective actions
    • Work directly with management and team leads to develop corrective actions
    • Follow up on actions and track effectiveness
  • Process units and/or parts that arrive for quality inspection.
  • Inspect and verify units and/or parts per print/reports that arrive from vendors.

  • Inspect and test units manufactured

  • Accept or reject finished items.

  • Record and maintain testing data

  • Record test results on quality controlled documents

  • Maintain proper recordkeeping of all test sheets used.

  • Perform calibration checks

  • Ensure that the testing instrument is properly calibrated prior to the start of every day.

  • Monitor and assist production to ensure they meet production standards.

  • Perform line audits at the beginning of the day to ensure proper parts are being used for the builds.

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment at all times.

  • Troubleshooting of issues as presented by various groups.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.



Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED
    • Higher education strongly desired
  • 3 year of experience as a quality inspector in a manufacturing environment.
    • Previous experience with quality engineering preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, team player, and excellent communication skills
  • Proven strong mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding of general manufacturing processes and flows
  • Use of basic measurement tools
    • Caliper, Micrometer, Tape Measure, Level, Humidity Testers, etc.
  • Experience with and understanding of various quality tools
    • DMAIC, 5 Whys, 8D, RCCA, Pareto charts, SPC
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • Able to pass background check and drug test
  • Open to overtime and some weekends
  • Reliable transportation.


Working conditions

Position is primarily in a manufacturing environment.

May require some overtime and limited weekends.


Physical requirements

The position requires standing for long periods of time. The position may require but is not limited to lifting up to 75 lbs periodically, bending, stooping, twisting, stretching, walking, reaching and lifting over the head.
